Dreams - Synopsis

It is about the magic of Hollywood with today's stars against a backdrop of the stars of yesteryear. In addition to the dream images it also shows a little of the high-paced life of Hollywood as seen by an outsider. Filmed at eighteen frames per second, the entire footage was re-photographed at sound speed which gives it a sureal, dreamy effect.

Where possible the people, actors, directors, producers and festival organizers, are featured in front of huge pin-ups of earlier stars, giving the audience a sense of time in history - the stars of today being the dream symbols of tomorrow.

The sound track is an integrated medley of music from five decades of Hollywood during which no single language is used. Just as the word 'Hollywood' is known throughout the world, the use of this musical medley combined with no one language preserves the universal theme.

Andrew Vial premiered the film at the London International Film Festival in a program in which Orson Welles also presented his movie 'Filming Othello'.
